The deep DNA behind KLEJN&STRUP is the love to letting yourself become immersed in the creative process. During a time where perfection has become a trend, where beauty defects are hidden or erased, KLEJN&STRUP has created a concept in which the incomplete and – in our view – unique is allowed to give resonance.
For us, unique products come to life in the hands of people. The small beauty errors that arise during the creative process contribute to giving each product its own distinctive character.
KLEJN&STRUP’s visual characteristic therefore is to merge production with old craft skills. It is this combination of crafts and series production that makes our products something special.
Based on simple Scandinavian design philosophy, our vision is to innovate classic products and create brand new and prominent designs. With great love for nature, and the raw materials we surround ourselves with, our products are created solely of solid natural materials.
It is the interaction between the hard and soft materials that creates our evocative products and give them their own expression.
We care for our natural resources. We therefore make our illustrations at a Danish company that focuses on gentle and responsible printing production. This is expressed by using wind energy and vegetable inks in the production. As environmental demands are very strict in Europe, it has been important for us to cooperate with European-based suppliers, where eco-tex certification is usually a matter of course as well as a quality stamp.
Another core value for KLEJN&STRUP is social responsibility. Where some people may feel incomplete, we see them as a positive asset. Our series production is carried out at a Danish company whose employees are on the edge of the job market. This company creates personal courses for its employees that enable them to challenge as well as move their limits.
We, ourselves, complete the aesthetic expressions of the products using old craftsmanship for the braids and knots.
We focus on responsibility in the selected raw materials, and the way we have chosen to manufacture our products. Trough imperfection we create unique products that give resonance.
